The 'Daily Cup' of Motivation: Anything is Possible with New York City.

The 'Daily Cup' of Motivation will be a series of blogs, or rather a type of blog that I will write as often as possible (every day I hope) along side my other blogs with the aim to inspire and motivate people all across the world.

They wont be as long or as rich as my other blog articles, and may not always be aimed at 'personal development', but they will serve the purpose of motivating you and giving you the necessary humor to take on and start your day! Drink this blog everyday like you would drink a cup of awesome Starbucks or Vida coffee every morning.

The idea for this type of blog came to me this morning as I took the NY Waterway ferry from New Jersey to New York City: wow, after all these years it is still an awesome site that puts goosebumps on the skin and inspiring thoughts throughout the mind.

As I approached the ferry in awe of the magnificent New York skyline, I could only think that I was not only in the most magnificent city in the world, I was at a place where the belief to achieve anything, on any scale, was rife.

For many New York City may be 'The Big Apple', or it may be the fashion or entertainment capital of the world, or one of the biggest and wealthiest cities in the world, but for me New York ia all about the attitude and mentality that screams: I can do anything and anything is possible. This is why I Love New York.

As I sat on the ferry I internalized all I was taking in and with all the success, beauty and 'bigness' around me, I thought to myself how can I be as successful in my own life and how can I be as visionary, forward thinking and committed as the people who dreamed up and built New York to what it is today.

New York has instantly reminded me of what a winning mentality and mindset is, and rather then dispute it, argue with it or brush it aside, I embrace it and trace it back to my life in as many ways as possible. One of the things that has served me well in life is when I come across greatness, when I come across forces stronger and greater then myself, rather then ignore them as they may make me feel uncomfortable, I embrace them and try to get as close to them as possible and learn about what makes them great.

New York simply is great, it simply reminds you that great feelings and great things can be achieved anytime, anywhere and on any scale.  If you have lost these feelings or never have experienced what it is to be in complete awe of your surroundings, I suggest you go to New York or visit a place or situation that will make you feel as good.

A few years ago I would have been inspired by New York and would have thought how I could move back here and add to and capitalize on this amazing energy and mentality that exists. Things are different now and as I lay in awe and soak up this metropolis of energy, I wonder how I could take this energy back home and make the most of it; how could I employ this feeling back home in Cape Town and how could every morning be like looking at the New York skyline with such strong feelings of hope and inspiration. How can my world be like this world every morning?

New York City is one of the greatest cities in the world made by people just like me and you. It is stacked with buildings, ideas and concepts that blow the mind and truly demonstrate how great and creative life can be if we make a concerted effort to make things that way. The people in America are no different then me and you, they are just committed and share a common purpose of being the best in the world, the best they can be, and they exemplify and breathe passion, persistence and belief.

We can all be New Yorkers and we can all have our New York skyline. What is it in your life that will give you that skyline and that feeling of hope that anything is possible? Think about that for a moment, what could make you feel this great, this inspired and this energetic every moment of your life?

Get on your ferry, take your pick, drink up life and remember energy, hope and thoughts are pretty much all it takes to build things as great as New York City.

I Love New York!
